THE SMILING OX PARADOX®

The Science of Magnetic Leadership

This tool is part of The Smiling Ox Paradox® program which helps leaders understand the science of how to become one of those rare people others feel compelled to follow.

We developed this tool for two years and launched it over a decade ago. We have continued to refine it over the years. Many thousands of executives and senior leaders have used this tool in our programs.

There are two versions:

  • The Self-Assessment
  • The 360°.

THE EXTRAORDINARY TEAMS DIAGNOSTIC

Diagnose > Prescribe > Measure Progress

The Extraordinary Teams Diagnostic is like a 360º on the team itself by every member of the team (including the leader).

We developed this tool to remove the guess work out of diagnosing and prescribing team interventions and for measuring progress.

We use this tool to great effect with executive teams, leadership teams and functional teams across a wide variety of industries.

Every team completes the diagnostic at least twice:

  • Day 1: Diagnose current state > Create plan > Make improvements.
  • Day 90: Measure progress > Create new plan > Make further improvements.

THE LEADERSHIP CONVERSATIONS VISIBILITY TOOL

Leadership…One Conversation at a Time

We believe that for managers to engage their people and get the best out of their people, this is done one conversation at a time.

The Leadership Conversations Visibility Tool tracks the quantity and quality of these conversations between people managers and their direct reports.

We developed this tool to give organisations visibility of the ongoing behaviours of people managers across the organisation and for individual people managers to gain visibility of the impact of their own management behaviours and practices.

According to Gallup, 70% of a person’s engagement at work is determined by their immediate manager. This tool is designed to empower leaders to shift that 70%.

This tool has:

  • A 180° component (feedback from direct reports)
  • A Self-Assessment component (as a comparison point).
